2018 Math's Week

Room 24 loved Math's Week. Each day we went onto the website and played Daily Dollar and Math's Millionaire. We were very close at guessing how many lollies there were in Mrs Madden's jars.
Below we are playing Dots and Boxes - a fun game which challenged us to think about strategy.

Mrs Dijkstra read us the picture book "Each Orange has 8 Slices" Each page posed a mathematical problem which we tried to solve. We talked about what strategy we might use.

Part B ARTS WEEK

Using Glitter Gel Hama Beads we made butterflies which will be displayed
in the Arts Exhibition
Using cardboard we cut and constructed a flower which was later printed in
white onto black paper.

Mrs Dijkstra read us the big book "Cass the Colour Robber" we drew a scene from the story where all the colour had been zapped.  Our next blog post will show our second drawing where the Colour Robber has a change of heart and returns the colour,
making everything rainbow.

Pink Shirt Day

On Friday May 18th it was Pink Shirt Day. Children were able to wear pink to help celebrate this event that promoted kindness. We watched "Oat the Goat" on You Tube- a powerful and wonderful digital story that encourages kindness which resulted in making new friends.

Family Shields

We made a shield. We drew pictures of our family and of food we like to eat and of things we like to play and of things our family like to do together. Our shields told a lot about us and helped us get to know each other better.
Mrs Dijkstra loved the detail in our drawings and how colourful they looked. Mr Dijkstra stapled them up high around our room because he is nice and tall.
