Fractions

As an introduction to Fractions we had a Bus Stop activity.

We drew a line on a shot glass with vivid's marking half, a quarter, three quarters and full. We used our drink bottle to make and drink the amounts.

We were given a ball of dough and asked to find half of it.

Some of us used the scales to check.

We were given a ball of wool and asked to make it as long as the table and then find half of that length.
We were asked to take a handful of pasta and then to find half of that amount.

We were given 4 squares and cut them in half in different ways and used the shapes to make the letter T and M and a rocket.

  1. Whoa! What awesome bus stop activities! We were learning about fractions in Room 9 today too! Guess what? I had a homemade pizza for dinner and I cut the whole pizza into 4 equal parts! Each 1/4 was delicious!

  2. Super activities to help you learn about fractions. Once you master cutting objects into equal shared parts you will find fractions in lots of every day maths.

  3. Wow what fun activities to help you learn about fractions. it is important to learn about equal sharing so that you can make sure everyone gets the same amount when sharing out the lollies with your brothers and sisters or friends!
